no pressure… well, maybe a little.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
A cumulative oxygen therapy that delivers increased oxygen levels into your bloodstream to support recovery, energy, healthy ageing and cellular repair. Sessions run 60 to 90 minutes in our medical-grade hard-shell chamber, ideally three to five times a week during your course.
The air we normally breathe contains around 21% oxygen. During your session you'll breathe up to 100% oxygen under increased pressure, supporting body repair and renewal.

Potential Benefits
What HBOT may support
Recovery & Injury
Supports recovery from sports injuries, soft-tissue trauma and overuse, aiding tissue repair, collagen and new blood vessel formation.
Performance & Energy
Helps reduce muscle soreness and supports exercise recovery, stamina and physical performance between training sessions.
Healthy Ageing & Mind
Supports cellular energy, circulation and skin quality, alongside mental clarity, focus and cognitive performance.
Healing & Wellbeing
Supports wound healing, post-surgical recovery, inflammation management, better sleep and everyday resilience.
Session Length
60 or 90 minutes?

60 Minutes
Ideal for first-time clients, general wellness, maintenance treatments and those with limited availability.

90 Minutes
For maximum oxygen exposure, recovery and regenerative programmes. At 2.0 ATA, 90 minutes gives way to dive to deeper therapeutic pressure.

Safety
Safe, supervised and well tolerated
Delivered by operators trained in line with European Baromedical Association (EBAss) standards, HBOT has been used in clinics worldwide for decades and is generally safe and well tolerated. The most common effects are mild and temporary — a feeling of ear or sinus pressure during pressurisation, much like an aeroplane take-off. Every client completes a medical screening beforehand, and an untreated collapsed lung (pneumothorax) is the one absolute contraindication and must be disclosed.

FAQ
What precisely does HBOT do?
HBOT involves breathing high-concentration oxygen inside a pressurised chamber. The increased pressure allows more oxygen to dissolve into your blood plasma, so oxygen can reach tissues that may be lacking under normal conditions. This increase in oxygen can: promote wound healing, reduce swelling (oedema), speed up injury recovery, support the growth of new blood vessels in damaged tissue and enhance white blood cell function, supporting the immune system and thus aid in fighting infections. These reasons are why it is particularly popular amongst athletes, pre/post surgical clients, patients who have suffered a neurological or radiation injury and many more. We implore you to do your own personal research into this wonderful treatment.
We recommend a single 60 minute trial session first at up to 1.5 atmospheres absolute (ATA). It lets you get comfortable in the chamber, learn ear-equalisation techniques and experience the treatment for yourself before committing to a full programme.
Due to the cumulative nature of HBOT, treatments are typically given as a 'course' fairly close together. For those undertaking a course, sessions are typically scheduled 3-5 times per week. For certain medical indications, up to 5 times per week is recommended. The ideal frequency and number of sessions will vary depending on reason for treatment.
Most people find it calm and relaxing. As the chamber pressurises you'll feel pressure in your ears, like an aeroplane take-off, eased with simple swallowing or yawning. Once at pressure that feeling disappears and you can read, listen to music, watch a film or rest — some clients even drift off to sleep.
What can I take into the chamber?
For fire safety in an oxygen-rich environment, only approved items are allowed. You'll be asked to leave phones, smart watches, jewellery, lighters, cosmetics, perfumes and petroleum-based products outside. Please check with your operator before bringing a book or personal item.
What should I wear?
Loose, comfortable clothing in natural fibres like cotton. You may be provided with 100% cotton garments. Avoid anything contaminated with oils or chemicals, flammable hair products and petroleum-based creams. If you're also having red light therapy, you may prefer clothing with more skin exposure.
Am I a candidate for HBOT?
Many people are suitable candidates, including those supporting recovery, wellness, performance and healthy ageing. Please tell us if you are pregnant, have lung, ear, sinus, cardiovascular or seizure conditions, recent surgery, or take certain medications. Every client completes a pre-treatment screening questionnaire before their first session. Where relative considerations are flagged by the screening, we may request written clearance from your GP or consultant before proceeding. Our chamber operator cannot provide medical advice or provide emergency medical treatment. We do not diagnose or manage medical conditions, and HBOT is not a replacement for standard medical care. Please speak to your doctor about your individual condition. An untreated collapsed lung is an absolute contraindication to treatment. If in any doubt, please email us at info@rougestudios.co.uk.
Is HBOT safe?
Conducted by our Diving Diseases Research Centre (DDRC) trained operator, HBOT is generally safe and well tolerated, and has been used in clinics worldwide for decades. The most common effects are mild and temporary, such as ear or sinus pressure during pressurisation. Sessions are supervised throughout.
Why choose Rouge Studios?
Rouge Studios is home to Rouge Respirer, our medical-grade, hard-shell, dual-place hyperbaric chamber operating at pressures of up to 2.0 ATA. Unlike many inflatable soft-shell chambers, Rouge Respirer is designed for higher operating pressures while providing a spacious, comfortable treatment environment with integrated red and near-infrared light therapy. Every treatment is delivered by a DDRC Healthcare-trained EBAss standard operator , with a strong emphasis on safety, comfort and personalised care.
How will I feel afterwards?
Most clients leave feeling calm, refreshed and mentally clear, often with more energy and better sleep that night. Some feel a little tired after the first few sessions as the body adapts to increased oxygen. The sense of fatigue some users experience has been linked to the body being given opportunity to recover. Everyone responds slightly differently.
Can I drive after treatment?
Yes. Most clients can drive home immediately after treatment. If you experience unusual tiredness, dizziness or feel unwell following treatment, you should wait until you feel fully recovered before driving and inform your operator.
